Recommended Reading by the Coast Guard

The Coast Guard’s reading list is made up of books that which can help a coast guard member to learn about qualities and core values that drive the Coast Guard to success. Some of the themes emphasized in the reading list are taking care of people, team building, creativity, vision, and management. Most of the books also focus heavily on leadership and the importance of being willing to move others to action. While these books are recommended specifically for Coast Guard members, any marine enthusiast can learn a lot from them.

While the Coast Guard’s recommended reading list used to be compiled just once each year, it is now revised quarterly and new books can be recommended for the list at any time. To recommend a book for consideration, you just have to log onto the Coast Guard’s official website and email them.
